RPCS Inc. evolved from the first Ramey grocery store in Springfield, Mo., opened in 1919 by John Ramey. Today RPCS Inc. operates 33 grocery stores and 20 pharmacies in southwest Missouri under the Ramey, Price Cutter, Price Cutter Plus, and Smitty's banners, the only online grocery stores in two southwest Missouri metro areas (Springfield and Joplin), and one Save-A-Lot store in northwest Arkansas. RPCS Inc. also operates nine Food Pyramid grocery stores with in-store pharmacies and three Pyramid Express convenience stores in the Tulsa area. As a Starbucks licensee since 2002, RPCS Inc. operates 11 in-store, full-service Starbucks kiosks within select Price Cutter Plus stores in Missouri, and in three Tulsa-area Food Pyramid stores, with plans to open seven more in Tulsa during 2008. The company, based in Springfield, Mo., is title sponsor of the Price Cutter Charity Championship, the local stop of the national PGA tournament, which has raised more than $5 million for children’s charities in the Ozarks. RPCS Inc. was recently recognized by Springfield Business Journal as one of the largest employers in both Christian and Webster counties, and the largest locally owned pharmacy company in southwest Missouri. In addition, Price Cutter is consistently named one of the best grocery stores by the readers of the Springfield News-Leader and 417 Magazine.
