Job Description
The Senior Human Resources Generalist will be responsible for the implementation and administration of HR activities at the retail store and corporate level and provide management and employees with a full range of human resources services across all functional areas including recruiting, employee relations, compensation, employment policies and practices, performance management, training and development, and employment law issues. In collaboration with assigned business leaders, this position provides HR expertise and consulting to teams applicable to building organizational capability. The focus is to achieve current and future business objectives through the development and implementation of practical, cost-effective, and proactive human resource strategy, policies and practices.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: • This position is responsible for ensuring legal and corporate compliance and providing consulting services to client groups. While dealing directly with management up to and including senior members of the executive team, this position delivers HR best practices including performance and talent management: career development, workforce planning and organizational effectiveness. • Functions as a resource for fostering sound working environments within client groups by building and maintaining trusted relationships, and by providing counsel to associates and management. • Utilizes management metrics and associate feedback tools to: help drive organizational efficiency; improve management quality and effectiveness; make recommendations to enhance company and departmental profitability; improve associate performance; and improve employee retention. • Provides HR expertise and assistance in enhancing company culture while promoting corporate values and mission. Manages change and highly complex projects in support of organizational objectives. • Collaborates with subject matter experts to assist with providing HR training (i.e., harassment prevention), assessing performance and development issues, and working with managers to ensure employment law compliance. • Interpret and apply company’s policies and standard practices to the concerns of the business teams, with the mutual best interests of the employee, management, and the company. • Conducts exit interviews and analyzes data and makes recommendations to the V.P. H.R. and management team for corrective action and continuous improvement. • Responds to assigned stores employee relation issues such as employee complaints, harassment allegations, and civil rights complaints and represents the company for any unemployment claims • Facilitates and/or provides training (including orientation) to assigned stores teams. • Maintains and coordinates assigned stores employee recognition programs. • Interviews, screens, and recruits job applicants to fill entry level, professional and assigned stores job openings. • Reviews applications and interviews applicants to match experience with specific job related requirements. • Represents management in investigating, answering, and settling employee relations issues between assigned stores personnel, supervisor and the management team. • Performs other work-related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree required or equivalent HR experience. Six to eight years of strong professional, progressive experience is required. A minimum of five of these years spent working in a retail environment is highly preferred. PHR/SPHR professional certification preferred. • Proven experience in dealing effectively with a variety of associate/management issues. Possess the ability to maintain strict confidentiality and demonstrate knowledge and understanding of employment law, policies and procedures is essential. • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment and exhibit excellent multi-tasking skills. Possess the ability to effectively coach managers and be well-skilled in both oral and written communication is required. • Possess the ability to articulate the complexity of business need and the capability to build/develop practical action plans based upon those needs. • Excellent teaming, interpersonal, negotiation, and analytical skills are required. Must demonstrate the ability to develop credibility with all levels of associates and management alike. • A working knowledge of developing and implementing new policies and procedures is required. • Must possess strong business acumen, encompassing the ability to see the “Big Picture” within a complex, multi-faceted organization, and initiate change management with client groups. • Must exhibit proactive qualities, be self-directed, and have experience in facilitating meetings by utilizing effective presentation skills. • As an internal consultant, working directly on highly complex and strategic projects, this position requires a broad business perspective, encompassing a thorough understanding of business goals, vision and culture. Strong project management skills, strong detail orientation, a demonstrated responsiveness to a high volume of customers, and exceptional interpersonal flexibility is required. • Computer proficiency (or at minimum a working knowledge) is preferred in the use of the following software programs: E-mail systems; MS Office Suite; PeopleSoft, Visio, and MS Project. • Ability to objectively coach employees and stores management both in English and Spanish through complex and emotional issues. • Must have the ability to make recommendation to effective resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is in consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation or government law. • Bi-lingual Spanish language is required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Daily sitting and operating a computer. • Occasional bending, reaching and lifting. • Communicate by telephone as needed on a daily basis. • Client group department visitation as necessary. • Heavy local travel from retail location to retail location within assigned region • Minimal out-of-town business travel.
