Job Description
Job Purpose:

Assist Director of Store Design with daily operations of the department to include, coordinating and supervising development of plans and specifications for construction of retail facilities from inception to completion as required to insure compliance with Company criteria and budget guidelines.

Initial Minimum Qualifications:

1. Extensive architectural, engineering, refrigeration, and construction materials and techniques knowledge.

2. Conventional and computer drafting skills. Ability to read and understand all types of construction drawings.

3. Able and willing to travel and drive in unfamiliar locations.

Desired Qualifications:

1. High standard of integrity and reliability. Associate degree with successful completion of architectural and engineering courses, or at least ten years experience in the retail architectural and engineering design field.

2. Extensive specialized supermarket design and construction expertise.

3. High level of expertise in one or more design disciplines.

4. Strong organizational skills.

5. Strong oral and written communication skills.

6. Flexibility is required for a wide variety of assignments.

Primary (Essential) Job Functions (This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary by the company.):

1. Assist Director of Store Design in day to day operation of department including coordinating with management and supervising of department personnel.

2. Complete field surveys of existing facilities, including roof structures, and machine rooms, as required for issuance of reports and updating plans.

3. Meet with Architect and Jurisdictional Authorities to verify feasibility of proposed projects.

4. Prepare and review drawings, specifications, and other construction documents for feasibility and compliance with Company criteria and industry standards.

5. Monitor construction progress to verify compliance with approved plans and procedures.

6. Assist Construction Department with resolving design issues, conflicts, and change order requests.

7. Assist Director with preparation of remodel estimates.

8. Work independently, making decisions based on available data and company criteria.

9. All activities require a high level of detail and accuracy and must be performed in a timely manner.

Secondary Job Functions:

In addition to the secondary job functions listed, generally, the following statement is standard:

1. Review and analyze new products/materials.

2. Assist the Director of Store Design and Vice President with other assigned tasks.

Job Standards: Generally, the following statement is standard:

Develop accurate and high quality plans and specifications for timely completion of new and remodel projects to the highest and most competitive standards possible. Verify that all work is completed in accordance with approved plans and that all projects are properly closed out.
