Job Description
Mi Pueblo Food Centers began serving customers in 1991 under the leadership of Juvenal Chavez, the company's founder and current Chairman and CEO. Our first store was opened at 1114 S. King Road in San Jose, California. Mi Pueblo now has 10 stores located throughout Northern California and continues to grow. Position Summary:

The Construction and Facilities Management Director, under the general direction of the COO is responsible for project planning process from conception, by user group, through initial estimate; assists with delegating projects to appropriate department, based on size and complexity of projects; documents project costs; analyzes and documents historical cost data; coordinates the selection process for consultants and contractors.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: • Coordinates and conducts project planning meetings with user groups to determine proposed scope of work, including building areas affected, significant controlling issues, obstacles or restrictions, required coordination with other service groups, and utilization of acquisitions space information from Mi Pueblo systems; develops a space plan to accommodate needs of users; ensures project objectives are clearly defined, formatted, and communicated to appropriate parties. • Confirms project feasibility; prepares initial budgets based on past project costs, current construction data, and subcontractor and vendor input; maintains departmental cost database for use with future evaluations; provides estimates in order of magnitude level, sufficient for evaluation by appropriate parties and preliminary decisions regarding progress. • Initiates request-for-quote/request-for-proposal (RFQ/RFP) process for procurement of design services and contractor solicitation; carries projects to the bidding stage with input by and support from the design & construction staff; serves as a consultant on scope and budget inquiries from design and construction staff. • Evaluates small scale projects for completion by in-house construction staff; prepares budgets and project plans; coordinates completion of projects with facilities management staff. • Documents project costs; prepares specialized reports; coordinates cost information with available systems; builds a database to enhance planning efforts; performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree; supplemented with three (5) years of construction and facilities work experience • Knowledge of construction restrictions/requirements and terminology • Knowledge of budget processes • Project management skills • Verbal and written communication skills • Ability to maintain a database • Must be able to communicate effectively, i.e. staff meetings, employee reviews, reporting, etc. • Must be computer literate with a working knowledge of Windows, Word and Excel. • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. • Bi-lingual Spanish is required.
