Job Description

Reports to the General Manager in creating a store that fully encompasses the Central Market shopping experience, especially in the areas of event planning & execution, Foodie & demo activities, signage and merchandising. Must have a merchant mentality. Must build a strong sales team that works through influence to gain customer loyalty and return visits.

 

Management Responsibilities:

  • Must be able to communicate and work collaboratively with store management and Division team
  • Must see the position as a support role; mindset should be: “How can I help you?”, “How can we grow sales?”
  • Participate in the development, launch and sales focus of Central Market Own Brand products.
  • Manage the store “Central Market Own Brand” initiative; product education, selling skills and objectives
  • Attends management meetings, most “Good Morning” meetings, and Taste of the Future meetings.
  • Supervises the Foodie, Demo & Art Teams.
  • Must have strong communication skills and ability to represent Central Market to the media regarding products, events and promotions.
  • Must understand the customer and be a daily role model of excellence in customer engagement: strong listening skills, in depth knowledge of our products, and sincere efforts to know customers personally, by name.
  • Must be detail oriented and have the ability to multi-task. This includes detailed record-keeping, scheduling of staff, planning for future activities, and daily communication to staff.
  • Must be able to train and educate Partners on our products, policies and standards.
  • Understands the importance of being present at peak times.

 

Event Planning and Execution:

  • Demonstrates leadership and creativity in store event planning including the ability to get the total store involved in the event
  • Must have the ability to work collaboratively with the entire Management team to create synergy and motivation in the event planning and execution process
  • Drive the execution of in-store event planning as a “project manager”
  • All Store events –using the Divisional Event Packet as a guide, drive the entire store agenda with these base plans, then build additional excitement above and beyond through vision and creativity
  • Single store events - Uses product knowledge to drive events during non-event (Divisional) events. Collaboratively plans and executes these to drive sales.
  • Community events - Have a pulse on the community and community events (fairs, bazaars, farmers markets, etc.) to tie into those events in order to create community connections and promote Central Market awareness for the purpose of building sales.

 

Foodie & Demo Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for hiring and development, productivity, scheduling, email, performance appraisals, Partner (employee) feedback and departmental schedules.
  • Lead the planning, strategy and execution of daily demos.
  • Balance Passive Demos, Hand-Sampling, and Chef Demos to maximize customer experiences at critical touch points in the shopping trip. Coach and train teams in each of these specific skills.
  • Manage vendor funded demo programs to ensure all organization, administrative and accounting duties are fully met.
  • Provide a professional, accommodating environment for vendor demos and work toward highly collaborative relationships with all outside resources.
  • Working with store management, ensure that the product we demo is supported by the store and / or divisional support team
  • Communicate coach and role-model expectations in Guest engagement then hold staff accountable for meeting them.
  • Equip Foodie team with tools and resources; Must have food expertise and knowledge to build the knowledge of the team
  • Responsible for cultivating new recipes for demos and maintaining a variety of printed CM Recipe Cards on hand for customers
  • Ensures that all federal, state, and company regulations and standards for product freshness, safety, refrigeration, and sanitation are met

 

Signage & Merchandising

  • Actively seek new and better merchandising methods that fit the Central Market brand which always allows the product to dominate and be center-stage!
  • Oversee effective execution of Item of the Week promotions.
  • Contribute to all merchandising efforts by staying apprised of objectives, understanding expectations and coaching and training partners to execute to them. Attend all merchandising training and coaching sessions, and assist in educating partners on these methods.
  • Inspire Art Teams to add their sizzle to store marketing efforts while controlling costs and maintaining an appropriate balance of impact
  • Supervise the Art team, their efficiencies, execution and overall contributions. Be the critical eye.
  • Contribute to the development of Divisional sign programs: best practice ideas, cost efficiencies etc.
  • Oversee the execution of all Divisional sign programs
  • Working with store management, maintain a zero-tolerance on execution of critical signs: safety, price communication, etc.
  • Play Big in Art, Signage and Merchandising!

Requirements:

  • Marketing, Public Relations and/or Event Planning experience preferred
  • Retail sales experience preferred
  • Professional culinary training a plus
  • Must have a “passion for food” and a “servant’s heart”
  • Proficiency with automated reporting systems including, but not limited to; Inventory, Food Cost, Scheduling, Time & Attendance and labor preferred. (Internal candidates proficiency with H-E-B systems (XPTR, IMS, CICS2)
