Job Description
The South Region is looking for a dynamic, highly organized individual with a passion for seeking out the next great product for WFM grocery shelves and the business acumen for pursuing the most advantageous deals that will maximize sales and profits for the department. The Regional Buyer will play a critical role within the Regional Grocery team, helping to shape the region's product mix, promotions strategies and vendor relationships.

• Execute cyclical Category Management process:
• Analyze sales and profitability of current product mix
• Make recommendations for discontinuing certain items; make disco decisions in partnership with Grocery Coordinator
• Assess new product submissions; make decisions about accepting new products in partnership with Grocery Coordinator
• Work in partnership with National Grocery team to ensure proper roll out of national product programs (Global Sourcing, National new items)
• Clearly communicate all product information to Planogram Coordinator, Operations Coordinators and Team Leaders in a timely manner
• Develop bi weekly promotions and merchandising plans:
• Work with Associate Grocery Coordinator and Grocery Coordinator to assess promotion submissions and determine preorder quantities for those that are accepted
• Negotiate additional deals with vendors as necessary
• Establish sale retails
• Create and distribute monthly merchandising plans
• Select and submit entries for Weekly flyer
• Serve as a key liaison for vendors and distributors
• Serve as key point of contact for all grocery TM's with questions regarding products, vendors, etc.
• Research and seek out new local products
• Be an active and productive member of the South Regional Support Team
This position will be based out of Atlanta, GA
Qualifications:
• 1 year as a Grocery Team Leader or equivalent experience
• Negotiation experience, an ability to say no politely
• Experience selecting new products and an ability to identify the few products with clear potential in the midst of many more that don't
• Clear understanding of financial reporting tools and concepts
• Stellar organizational and time management skills
• Excellent communications skills
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• A sunny disposition and an willingness to be a self-starter
• Understanding of Competitive Natural Food and Conventional Market Place
• Good understanding of merchandising skills and regional standards
• Able to travel as needed by Regional Grocery Coordinator
• A love of fabulous food
