Job Description
Are you a Seafood professional looking for a whole new way of working? Join Whole Foods Market as a Seafood Department Manager (Team Leader). Teamwork is at the heart of Whole Foods Market, and you will lead a team with your creativity, passion for the product, and quality driven leadership style. The Seafood Team Leader reports to the Store Manager (Store Team Leader) and is guided by the Regional Seafood Program Coordinator. In conjunction with the Store Leadership you will be responsible for Team Member hiring, development, terminations and generally holding your team accountable for their work. The Seafood Team Leader is responsible for profitability, expense control (packaging and labor), inventory control, buying and merchandising, regulatory compliance and special projects as assigned. Complete accountability for all aspects of team operations and perform all duties and responsibilities of team positions. We are looking for individuals who lead, not manage, work teams. You will be encouraged to run the Seafood department as if it was your own business (within certain guidelines of course). This is a position that will prepare you for Store or Regional Leadership within Whole Foods Market.


Responsibilities & Qualifications:
Duties/Requirements:

Demonstrated two or more years of experience directing a team of five or more people.

Instruct and train new and existing Seafood Department Team Members.

Strong knowledge of Seafood products and a passion for food

Stand and walk for extended periods of time up to 4 hours without a break.

Bend and stoop to grasp objects and climb ladders.

Bend and lift loads, not to exceed 75 pounds unassisted.

Push and pull carts weighing up to 100 pounds unassisted.

Effectively communicate with other Team Members and leadership.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong organizational skills.

Previous experience as a Team Leader, Assistant Team Leader, or equivalent.

Ability to work a variety of shifts including weekends and evenings.

Able to lead and motivate a diverse group of Team Members.
