Job Description
Duties (not inclusive): • Manages a procurement staff accountable for inventory, aged inventory, fill rate and turns, inside margin of team vendors from: forward buys, direct plant shipments (DPS), brackets, backhaul and contract carrier opportunities for an assigned distribution center(s). • Accountable for handling customer service issues with regional customers ensuring that issues are investigated and resolved effectively. Escalates complex issues to management and communicates changes (if necessary) to appropriate staff. Leads weekly conference calls with assigned Distribution Center(s). • Tracks, documents and communicates current and developing procedures which impact fill rate and/or turns, aged inventory. • Implements industry best practices with Logistics department for inbound transportation process improvement opportunities. • Leads and advises working groups and teams to maintain and improve knowledge and skills in procurement of processed meat knowledge, and goods/supplier policy procedures and changes. • Develops and executes procurement strategies to ensure the long-term, cost-effective supply of processed meat. • Manages vendors by monitoring performance versus fill rate standards, on-time deliveries, lead time variance, aged inventory and discount inventory. Holds vendors accountable to pre-established metrics and partners with vendors to ensure that desired goals are attained. • Performs staff management and administrative duties of: recruitment, training, performance evaluation, development and disciplinary actions. Manages staffing and budgetary requirements and sets department performance standards.
Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or other related field or equivalent combination of education and/ or experience • 8+ years Procurement experience with at least 2+ years experience in a supervisory/ managerial role. Previous Retail Grocery industry preferred. • Strong oral and written communication, organizational and analytical skills. Attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
