Brookshire's takes 20th century values into the next century by listening to the needs of both consumers and employees. In 2001, the company introduces Olé Foods in Plano, Texas, a Spanish-oriented store created to meet the needs of the growing Hispanic population in the area. The December 2001 introduction of LeCarb Frozen Dessert by SouthWest Foods, the company's manufacturing division, is also a response to consumer demand. Now distributed nation wide, the low-carb treat originally created for diabetics and low-carb dieters has become a main stay in the frozen dessert category.
Currently, the company operates 154 stores under the banners of Brookshire's, Super 1 Foods and Olé Foods in an expansive market area now covering Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi. Utilizing the people-first operating policies that have been in place since the company's inception in 1928, Brookshire's continues to grow stronger, progressively leading the way in the supermarket industry.
