A.L. Verna Company was originally founded by Antonio Verna in 1938. The original location of the business was at 242 Dock Street in the Old Philadelphia Produce Market.
Anthony Louis Verna took over the business in 1944 and greatly expanded it. He began packaging garlic and onions to service the supermarket chain stores. In 1969, William A. Verna became President and Owner. He expanded the business to include packaged spices and nuts to go along with the garlic. Today, Paul V. Verna is part of the 4th generation in our 60-year-old family business. From 1938 to 2002, two things have driven our business—quality products and customer service. These things will never change!
Today, as wholesale suppliers of garlic, spices, and nuts, we offer a multitude of packaged and bulk items to the supermarket and wholesale distribution trade. We offer custom-made displays to fit each individual market. We have a regional store door delivery program. We are also able to offer our customers private label programs should they be required.
