The Canadian Food Industry Council (CFIC) is a nationally recognized, non-profit organization founded in 2003. Our organization’s objective is to create effective solutions to address human resource challenges faced by the food industry and its employees leading to long-term growth and viability, taking into account regional differences.
For Employers:
To date, the Council has established a Board of Directors representing over 90% of employees in the food retail and wholesale sector, comprising both large and small business as well as labour representation. Through this collaborative effort, solutions developed will allow us to accomplish the following goals:
a) Improve the image of the industry
b) Collect and disseminate labour market information
c) Develop training solutions and delivery systems
d) Enhance employee retention
e) Develop strategic partnershipsThe retail and wholesale industry is poised to benefit from the Council’s involvement in developing effective human resource solutions for today’s workforce. Not only are there economies of scale to be achieved in working together on common issues facing the industry, but members and partners will also gain a competitive edge in the knowledge-based economy.
