- Nicholas & Company was founded by my father, Nicholas William Mouskondis in 1939. At the young age of seventeen my dad left his home in Crete, Greece to fulfill his dreams of a better life in America, "the land of promise and opportunity." With an eighth grade education, no knowledge of the English language, and a sign on his back reading "Utah," Nicholas Mouskondis began his long journey. With a bootstrap tenacity, long trying hours, great fortitude and strength to keep moving ahead, nicholas and his wife followed their vision and realized their dreams come true! It's not the first time this story has been told and it won't be the last, but for future generations of Americans this form of inspiration should not be forgotten. In America the opportunity is still there for those with courage and determination to make a better life for themselves and the next generation to come. It certainly has been a guidepost for me to follow my father's path in moving the family business forward, keeping the foundation and direction he intended, incorporating integrity, honesty and opportunity for all of our associates.
