Freiría & Co. was established in Puerto Rico in 1898 by Mr. Evaristo Freiría Rolán, a native of Spain.
In 1955 Mr. Freiría took charge of the distribution of prestigious brands such as Mc Cormick & Star Kist.
In 1965, Mr. Enrique Vázquez, employee of Freiría & Co., developed a new product named "ADOBO", which consisted of a blend of spices that could be used to add flavor to any dish. When this amazing seasoning was made known to housewives, it became a huge success among them. Freiría & Company was the first to develop and distribute the product we all know as "ADOBO BOHIO".
Mr. Evaristo Freiría, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Freiría & Co., died in 1977. In 1978 Mr. Enrique Freiria, took over the food distribution company, while Mr. Evaristo Freiria Jr. took over the manufacturing section of the business. In 1982, Enrique, now president of Freiría & Co. bought his brother's manufacturing company now known as HENFRAMAR, named after his 3 children; Henry, Francisco and Marimer.
